If your sites never go above 2.5 GHz, save your money. If you don't need audit-ready reports, a cheaper instrument could be fine.
No single piece of equipment is the best answer for every team, and anyone who says otherwise is selling something.
The used MP1764A worked out because we caught the calibration issue early. I'd factor recertification into the bid price before hitting "submit" next time. But I wouldn't avoid the secondhand market—I'd just price it honestly.
